Luonan County, subordinate to Shangluo City of Shanxi Province, is located in the northeast of Shangluo City, bordering Lingbao City and Lushi County of Henan Province in the east, adjacent to Shangzhou District and Danfeng County in the south, adjacent to Huazhou District of Weinan City and Lantian County of Xi 'an City in the west, and adjacent to Tongguan County of Huayin City and Weinan City in the north, with an area of 2830 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Luonan County has jurisdiction over 2 subdistricts and 14 towns. In 2021, the registered population of Luonan County was 451,665.

Lonan is the home of Chinese characters. Cang Jie, the historian of the Yellow Emperor, the first ancestor of humanity, created characters here more than 5,000 years ago, ending the history of human history. Tang Yu (26 centuries to the early 21st century) and Xia Shang (about the 21st century to the 11th century) periods, belongs to Liangzhou. In the Qin Dynasty, it belonged to the southern border of the inner history and was called "the land of Jinggi". The Western Han Dynasty Yuan Ding four years (113 years ago), set Luo County, belongs to Hongnong County. In the first three years (267) of the Western Jin Dynasty, Juyang County was set up in the north of Shangluo County, which was soon abolished. Shi Juyang County under the jurisdiction of Shangluo County. In the third year of Sui Kai Huang (583), the county system was abolished and the county system was set up. When Zhuyang County was abolished, Zhuyang County was changed to Luonan County, which was under the jurisdiction of Shangzhou. In the first year of Taichang in the Ming Dynasty (1620), Luo Nan was changed to "Luo Nan". In September 1964, it was renamed "Luonan County". On August 26, 2022, Luonan County was named as 2021 provincial County construction Demonstration County by Shanxi Provincial People's Government.

In 2021, the GDP of Luonan County reached 13.791 billion yuan and the per capita disposable income of residents was 18,233 yuan.
