Maguan County, a county under the jurisdiction of Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, is a county integrating frontier, ethnic and mountainous areas. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), it was renamed because it had the same name as Anping County, Guizhou. Located in the southeast of Yunnan Province, Maguan County is connected with Malipo County in the east, and faces Xichou County across the Panlong River, bordering the four counties of Qingmen, Xinma Street, Huangshupi and Mengkang in Vietnam's Old Street and Hejiang Province in the south, bordering Hekou and Pingbian counties of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in the southwest, and bordering Wenshan City in the north. The whole county covers an area of 2676 square kilometers and governs 125 village committees (communities) and 1 farm management area in 4 townships and 9 towns. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Maguan County was 318704.
On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County of E-commerce in Rural Areas" by the Ministry of Commerce. On May 17, 2020, it officially withdrew from the poverty county sequence. In August 2021, it was selected as the national key county for rural revitalization.
In 2020, the gross regional product of Maguan County reached 1222052 million yuan, an increase of 5.0% year on year, 1 percentage point higher than that of the whole province (4.0%) and 0.4 percentage points lower than that of the whole prefecture (5.4%). Among them, the added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries was 276.05 million yuan, 425.64 million yuan and 5204.07 million yuan respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 5.1%, 7.5% and 2.3% respectively. According to the resident population, the annual per capita GDP was 32000 yuan, an increase of 2645 yuan or 4.7% year on year.
