Meixian District/county, under the jurisdiction of Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, the upper reaches of the Han River, and the middle of Meizhou City, between 23 ° 55 '- 24 ° 48' north latitude and 115 ° 47 '- 116 ° 33' east longitude, with a total area of 2482.86 square kilometers. Meixian District was founded in the Qin Dynasty. In October 2013, the State Council agreed to approve the removal of Meixian from the county and the establishment of a district.
