Minquan County, subordinate to Shangqiu City, Henan Province, is located in the east of Henan Province, at the junction of Shangqiu, Kaifeng and Heze, Shandong Province, with a total area of 1222 square kilometers. In the seventeenth year of the Republic of China (1928), with the approval of Feng Yuxiang, then the chairman of the National Government of Henan Province, the county was established based on the "civil rights" of Dr. Sun Yat sen's "Three People's Principles". In 1948, the civil rights county was liberated. In 1997, Shangqiu was removed from the land and established as a city, and Minquan County was subordinate to Shangqiu City. Minquan County has a warm temperate continental monsoon climate. The four seasons are distinct, with abundant light energy, suitable temperature and hot rain in the same season. National Highway 310, Longhai Railway, Lianhuo Expressway, Zhengzhou Xuzhou High speed Railway and Zhengzhou Minquan Expressway directly leading to Zhengzhou Airport Zone cross Minquan County. There are many cultural and natural landscapes in the county, such as Mapo, the thousand year old Baiyun Temple, the site of "Kuiqiu Huimengtai", Qiushui Lake, Longze Lake, etc. In 2016, Minquan County was awarded the titles of "China's Longevity Town" and "China's Healthy Town", and was awarded the second batch of national tourism demonstration areas. On May 9, 2019, after the provincial special evaluation and inspection, it reached the poverty eradication standard and officially withdrew from the poverty county sequence. In December 2019, Minquan County was named National Garden County by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development.
