Mojiang Hani Autonomous County (Mojiang County), under the jurisdiction of Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, is located in the south of Yunnan Province, in the east of Pu'er City, 350 kilometers away from the provincial capital Kunming City in the north and 220 kilometers away from Pu'er City in the southwest. It is the main transportation route from the mainland of China to the southwest border of Yunnan Province. It has jurisdiction over 15 townships (towns), 163 villages and 5 communities. The widest transverse distance from east to west is 76 kilometers, and the longest longitudinal distance from north to south is 136 kilometers, with a total area of 5312 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of the Hani Autonomous County in Mojiang was 281554.

Mojiang County is the only Hani Autonomous County in China established on November 28, 1979. Since 2005, Mojiang County has held the "China · Mojiang Tropic of Cancer International Twin Festival and Hani Sun Festival" every year. The Tropic of Cancer in Mojiang County passes through the city and is known as "the hometown of Hani, the city of return, the home of twins" and "the place where the sun turns". Mojiang County is rich in purple rice. In 2007, it was awarded the title of "China's Purple Rice Town" by the Committee for Recommendation and Publicity of China's Specialty Town.

On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County of E-commerce in Rural Areas" by the Ministry of Commerce. In June 2020, it was selected into the list of national forest health bases (the first batch). On May 17, 2020, it officially withdrew from the poverty county sequence.

In 2019, the gross domestic product of Mojiang County reached 7.857 billion yuan, up 8.5% year on year; Investment in fixed assets above designated size increased by 86.8%; The general public budget revenue of local finance was 349 million yuan, down 9.4%, and the general public budget expenditure of local finance was 3.082 billion yuan, up 2.5%; The total retail sales of consumer goods reached 1.599 billion yuan, up 12.2%; The per capita disposable income of urban permanent residents was 30862 yuan, up 8.7%, and that of rural permanent residents was 11319 yuan, up 11.4%; The registered urban unemployment rate is 3.28%.
