Motuo County

Motuo County (English: Medog County), means "flower". It is under the jurisdiction of Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is located in the southeast of Tibet, in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, in the eastern section of the Himalaya and the southern slope of the Gangrigabu Mountains, in the east in Zayu County, in the south in the border with India (part of the region in southern Tibet), in the west in Milin County, Longzi County, Chinna County, and in the north in Bomi County, Bayi District, with a total area of 31,450 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Medog county was 14,889.

Motuo County is the last county in China where the Yarlung Zangbo River flows before it enters the Assam Plain in India. The Monba and Lhoba ethnic groups are the main residents of the county. The main section of the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is located in this county, which is the lowest elevation, mildest, rainiest and best-preserved ecological place on the Tibet Plateau.

On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce. On February 6, 2019, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region decided to withdraw Medog County from poverty. 2020 China Summer leisure top 100 counties and cities. On May 16, 2021, the Pai-Mo Highway was fully connected. In 2022, Medog County has jurisdiction over 1 town, 7 townships (including 1 ethnic township), 46 administrative villages and 60 villages.In 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Metuo County reached 852 million yuan, an increase of 7.1%.
