Nimu County is affiliated to Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is located in the south central part of Tibet and the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. It is 147 kilometers away from Lhasa City, and it is the joint part of the front Tibet and the Back Tibet. It is adjacent to Nanmulin County of Shigatse City in the west, Qushui County in the east, Renbu County of Shigatse City and Langkazi County of Shannan City in the south, and Dangxiong County in the north. The total area is 3275 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Nimu County was 29,989.

Within the territory of Jiga Qude Temple, as well as ancient Tibet bridge expert Tang Dong Jiebu made the Nimu iron rope bridge and other attractions. Zanyi paper, Nyamu Zangxiang and Pousong carvings are known as the "three wonders of Nyamu".
In 2019, the GDP of Nimu County reached 1.011 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 12.71%.On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce.In October 2018, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region officially approved the withdrawal of Nimu County from poverty.
