Ningcheng County, under the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of Chifeng City. It is located in the south of Chifeng City, at the northern margin of the eastern section of Yanshan Mountain range, between 118°26 "~ 119°25" east longitude and 41°17 "~ 41°53" north latitude, belonging to the transition zone between Inner Mongolia Plateau and Songliao Plain. It is connected to Harqin Banner of Inner Mongolia in the north, Jianping and Lingyuan of Liaoning Province in the east, Pingquan City of Hebei Province in the south, and Chengde and Longhua Counties of Hebei Province in the west. The county covers an area of 4,305 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 13 towns, 2 townships and 3 subdistricts. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Ningcheng county was 484,397.
Ningcheng County, arable land 1.42 million mu, forest coverage rate 45.6%. The landform is high in the west and low in the east, characterized by "five mountains, four hills and a branch of the river". In March 2019, it was announced by the Ministry of Water Resources as one of the first counties (districts) to reach the standard of water-saving social construction. On April 18, 2019, the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region decided to remove Ningcheng County from the poverty-stricken flag county list.
