Located in the middle reaches of Jialing River, Peng 'an County is a provincial historical and cultural city, one of the top ten eco-tourism demonstration cities in China, and one of the top fifty most beautiful towns in China. With the Qingxi River of Jialing River running through the city, Peng 'an County is a very beautiful landscape park city and an integrated city established by Nanchong. Located in the northeast of Sichuan province, Nanchong City under the jurisdiction of the county, AD 507 years (South Chaotian supervision six years), Emperor Wu of Liang to commemorate Sima Xiangru, with the name of the county, in 1371 AD, Pengzhou renamed "Peng 'an" in 1913 AD Pengzhou, Pengan County area 1332 square kilometers, jurisdiction over 21 towns, 84 communities, 228 administrative villages. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Peng 'an County had a permanent population of 461,485.

Pengan has a long history, outstanding people, unique location and convenient transportation. It is 230km away from Chengdu and 200km from Chongqing, and only 30 minutes' drive from the main city of Nanchong and Gaoping Airport. It is closely integrated into the "two-hour economic circle" of Chengdu-Chongqing and "half-hour economic circle" of Nanchong.
Peng 'an is a new type of industrial city and livable city. Peng 'an Industrial Park is a provincial industrial park approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and the provincial government, and a growth industrial park of ten billion yuan cultivated by Sichuan Province. There are many tourist attractions in Pengan City, including national AAAA level scenic spot - Jialing First Sangzi, national AA level scenic spot - Dashennanhai, Xianguru Lake National Wetland Park, national Forest Park - Baiyun Mountain.

In March 2019, it was listed among the first batch of counties under protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On February 2, 2019, it was named as the advanced unit of grassroots TCM work at the county level by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In 2019, the gross local product (GDP) of Peng 'an County reached 20.25 billion yuan, an increase of 7.9% over the previous year.
