Pingxiang City, a county-level city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region administered by Chongzuo City, is located in the south of China, bordering the mountains of Vietnam in Lang Son. It is known as the "South Gate of the Motherland". It is an international city in China closest to ASEAN countries. Under the jurisdiction of 4 towns, the total area of the city 650 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Pingxiang's permanent population was 129,843.
Pingxiang is 160 kilometers (expressway) away from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and the border with Liangshan Province of Vietnam on both sides. The border line is 97 kilometers long. In the border area, there are two national first-class ports (highway) and Pingxiang port (railway), one second-class port, and five border residents' trading points. The largest border port city is the largest and most convenient land route from China to Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In June 1992, it was approved by The State Council as a border city open to the outside world.

In 2020, the regional GDP of Pingxiang increased by 6.2%, the total value of foreign trade and import increased by 1.58%, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery increased by 8.1%, the total output value of industries above designated size increased by 15.6%, the per capita disposable income of urban residents increased by 4.1%, and the per capita disposable income of rural residents increased by 7.2%. In August 2019, it was included in Chongzuo Area of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Pingxiang has Friendship Pass, one of China's nine famous customs, and Puzhai Trade City and Nonghuai Border Trade Point are the largest border trade points on the China-Vietnam border. Pingxiang has won the titles of "China Excellent Tourism City", "National Demonstration City of Popular Science" and so on. It is also known as "the Capital of China's Rosewood" and "the best rosewood furniture in China and ASEAN".
In March 2019, it was listed among the first batch of counties under protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On October 9, 2020, it was awarded the fourth batch of national ecological civilization Construction demonstration City and county title by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
