Pingyi County, located in the southeast of Shandong Province and the west of Linyi City, lies between east longitude 117°25 '-117 °56' and north latitude 35°07 '-35 °43', with a total area of 1825 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 1 sub-district and 13 towns.

Pingyi has a long history, which belongs to Zhuanqi State of the Western Zhou Dynasty. It has a history of more than 3,000 years. Zeng Zi, Yuan Xian, Zhong You, Dan Tai Mingming in the seventy-two sages of Confucius, and Zuo Precious, a modern patriotic general, were born here.
