Puding County, under the jurisdiction of Anshun City, is located in the west of the central part of Guizhou Province, bordering Xixiu District, Development Zone and Pingba District of Anshun City in the east, Zhenning County and Liushi Special Zone in the south, Liushi Special Zone in the west and Zhijin County in the north. It is located in the hinterland of central Guizhou, which is known as "the belly of Guizhou and the throat of Yunnan", between east longitude 105°27' 49"-105°58' 51" and north latitude 26°26' 36"-26°31' 42". It covers an area of 1,091 square kilometers with a length of 51.4 kilometers from east to west and a width of 40 kilometers from north to south.

Puding County is a multi-ethnic compact area, the Han population accounts for about 80% of the county's total population, Miao and Buyi are the main ethnic minorities within the territory.
