Qingxu County is under Taiyuan City of Shanxi Province. Located in the central part of Shanxi Province, 208 National Road, 307 National Road, Qingyin Expressway and Tai-China Silver Railway through the border, the county's total area of 609 square kilometers, jurisdiction over 4 towns and 5 townships 1 sub-district office, 139 administrative villages and 24 community neighborhood committees.

According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Qingxu county was 344,472.

Founded in the Spring and Autumn Period, Xu County of Qing Dynasty was known as Xuanyang in ancient times. It has a long history and a great cultural gathering. Up to now, it has a history of more than 2,500 years. The county has 2 national cultural relics protection units, 4 provincial-level, 6 municipal. Qingxu County has basically formed a new county economic pattern dominated by six industries, such as clean energy, green food, high and new technology, precision casting, new building materials and ecological tourism.

On October 22, 2018, Qingxu County was selected into the 2018 national rural primary, secondary and tertiary industry integration development pilot zone to create the list. In March 2019, it was selected into the list of the first batch of counties under protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. In May 2020, it was listed in the demonstration list of new-type urbanization construction of county towns.
In 2020, the GDP of Qingxu County reached 19.48 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 5.1%.
