Sangri County

Sangri County is subordinate to Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is located in the southeast of Tibet Autonomous Region and north of Shannan City. It covers a total area of 2633.62 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 1 town and 3 townships. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Sangri County was 18,041 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.
Sangri means "copper mountain" in Tibetan. The county is located at the southern foot of Gangdisi Mountain and the middle reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River Valley. It belongs to the southern Tibet Valley. The geological structure is complex, the terrain is mainly alpine valley, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. Copper, limestone, marble, solar energy, water resources are rich. The main attractions are Dansati Temple, Volka Hot spring, Dagu Valley, Red deer Nature Reserve and so on.

Sangri County is the counterpart support county of Yueyang City, Hunan Province. Agriculture and animal husbandry is the economic basis of Sangri County, the territory mainly planted barley, winter wheat, rape and other crops, raising cattle, sheep, horses and other livestock. In 2020, Sangri's GDP, general public budget revenue, per capita disposable income of rural residents and total retail sales of consumer goods reached 2.075 billion yuan, 101.5 million yuan, 17,212 yuan and 143 million yuan respectively, 1.78 times, 1.42 times, 1.74 times and 1.86 times of that of 2015.
In October 2018, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region officially approved Sangri County's withdrawal from poverty.
