Shahe, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, is managed by Xingtai City and located in the south of Hebei Province. It borders Xindu District and Xiangdu District of Xingtai City in the north, Wu'an City and Yongnian District of Handan City in the south, Shanxi Province in the west and Nanhe District in the east. The total area is 858 square kilometers. As of October 2021, Shahe City has jurisdiction over 5 streets, 4 towns, 4 townships and 242 administrative villages. By the end of 2020, the total number of registered residence in Shahe City is 129879, with a population of 463649.

Shahe, the ancient land of Jizhou, was built in the Sui Dynasty. In the 16th year of Emperor Kaihuang of the Sui Dynasty (596), Shahe County was set up in the south of Longgang County in Xingzhou, named after the Dasha River. In 1987, Shahe was approved by the State Council to be a county and a city. Shahe is known as "the throat of northern Zhao and the shield of southern Xiang". Four national transportation arteries, namely Beijing Guangzhou Railway, Beijing Guangzhou High speed Railway, Beijing Zhuhai Expressway and 107 National Highway, run through the urban area; Taihang Mountain Expressway, Xinglin Expressway, Xingfen Expressway, and Provincial Highway 329 pass through the territory; It has formed a road network with "four horizontal and twelve vertical" national and provincial trunk lines and county and township roads as the main skeleton, and other rural roads as the branches, with reasonable layout and extending in all directions. Shahe City has 22 traditional Chinese villages. Qinwang Lake and North Wudang Mountain Scenic Area are provincial key scenic spots in Hebei Province.
