Shangshu County, subordinate to Ganzhou City of Jiangxi Province, is located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, adjacent to Nankang District in the east, Chongyi County in the south, Guidong County of Hunan Province in the west, and Suichuan County of Ji 'an City in the north. The county covers an area of 1543 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 6 towns, 8 townships, 131 administrative villages and 16 neighborhood committees. By the end of 2021, the registered population of Shangshu County is 321,500, including 66,500 urban population and 25500 rural population.

Shangyu is adjacent to the three transportation hubs of "Airport, high-speed rail and expressway" in Ganzhou, and Xiabarong Expressway and G220 National Highway pass through the city.
