Shenzha County is under the jurisdiction of Nagqu City, Tibet Autonomous Region. "Shenzha" in Tibetan means white, transparent and flawless refined salt (" Shen "transliterated as white and transparent; Zha "transliterated as salt ba). In ancient times, it was called Nasang Deba. It is located in the south of the hinterland of the northern Tibet Plateau, between Gangdisi Mountain and Selinco, the second largest lake in northern Tibet. The central location is 88°38 'east longitude and 30°57' north latitude. Shenzha County is a pure animal husbandry county of Naqu City, mainly raising yak, sheep and goats. The area of Gerenco (lake) is about 700 square kilometers. Selinco (Lake), with an area of 1,866 square kilometers, is the second largest saltwater lake on the northern Tibetan Plateau and the boundary lake between Shenzha County and Bangor County. In 2019, the GDP of Shenzha County was 674 million yuan, the added value of the primary industry was 94.03 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 134.34 million yuan, the general public budget revenue was 24.22 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure was 1017.51 million yuan.
On December 9, 2019, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region approved the withdrawal of Shenzha County from the poverty-stricken county (district).
