Shiqian County, located in the northeast of Guizhou Province and the southwest of Tongren City, is between 107°44 '55 "-- 108°33' 47" east longitude and 27°17 '5 "-- 27°42' 50" north latitude, with a total area of 2173 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 3 subdistricts, 6 towns and 10 townships.
Shiqian has a long history. Yelang County was set up in the 28th year of Ying Zheng in Qin Dynasty (219 BC), and Shiqian Prefecture was set up in Guizhou Province in the 11th year of Ming Yongle (1413). In 1914, Shiqian Prefecture was changed into a county. In 1934 and 1936, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army entered Shiqian twice, leaving a deep revolutionary imprint. In 1998, it was designated as a revolutionary old base area. There are Longevity Palace, Yu Palace, Fu Wen Temple and many other historical relics and historic sites, 1992 was listed as Guizhou historical and cultural city. It has 1 World intangible cultural Heritage (Shuochun), 3 national intangible cultural heritage (Puppet show, Gelao Maolong and Gelao Folk Song), and 11 provincial intangible cultural heritage. Shiqian Moss tea has a long history of excellent quality. It is tribute tea in Tang and Song dynasties. In 1958, Premier Zhou Enlai named the banner "Tea production has a boundless future". Shiqian has a good ecology, with a forest coverage rate of 69.74%. Air quality in the urban area is good for 363 days, and the rate of excellent and good air quality is 99.5%. There are national nature reserve Foding Mountain, China's largest wild mandarin duck overwintering habitat, and national wetland park Yuanyang Lake. It is a national demonstration county for ecological protection and construction, and a national key ecological functional area.
