Shouning County (formerly Shouning County, Jianning Fuzhenghe County, Funing Prefecture) is subordinate to Ningde City, Fujian Province. It is located in the northeast of Fujian Province, at the southern section of the Donggong Mountains, bordering Taishun County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province in the northeast, Jingning County, Qingyuan County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province in the northwest, Fu'an City, Fujian Province in the southeast, Nanping Municipal and County, Fujian Province in the west, and Zhouning County, Ningde City, Fujian Province in the southwest. It is located at the junction of Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, and is known as "the gateway of two provinces and the thoroughfare of five boundaries".

Shouning County is warm and humid, with no heat in summer and no cold in winter. It is known as a cool summer resort in Fujian. The county has jurisdiction over 8 towns, 6 townships and 205 administrative villages (communities), and the county people's government is located in Aoyang Town, with a total land area of 1433 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Shouning County was 177960.

In 2015, Shouning County was rated as "the top ten eco-tea producing counties in China". In November 2017, Shouning County won the title of "livable city for the elderly in China". On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County of E-commerce in Rural Areas" by the Ministry of Commerce. In March 2019, it was listed as the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization areas and counties. On December 31, 2019, it was selected as a typical county for rural innovation and entrepreneurship in China.

In 2020, Shouning County will achieve a GDP of 10.468 billion yuan, an increase of 3.7% on a year-on-year basis at comparable prices.
