Shouyang County is under Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. Located in the eastern part of Shanxi Province, it is located in the middle and upper reaches of Xiaohe River with Hengyue and Taihang. The whole terrain is higher in the northwest and north, and gradually slopes to the southeast, showing a ladder-like distribution. The county covers a total area of 2110 square kilometers. By 2021, Shouyang County has jurisdiction over 7 towns and 5 townships. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Shouyang County was 200,352.

Shouyang is located in Taiyuan, Yangquan, Yuci three cities, close to Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Tianjin, Beijing and other large and medium-sized cities; Shitai Railway, 307 National Road and provincial road Yuyu Road through the county, Taijiu highway across 47 kilometers, Shouyang into the national highway network; Shou Yang has a long history and rich cultural tourism resources. In the Spring and Autumn Period, it was Mashouyi, and in the reign of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty, it has a history of more than 2,000 years. Within the territory of Fangshan National Forest Park, "three generations of imperial division" Qi Junzao's former residence, Liu Hulan style heroine Yin Lingzhi martyr Memorial Hall, Wenchang Pavilion and other buildings. In March 2019, it was listed as one of the first counties under the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.
In 2020, the GDP of Shouyang County was 13.0 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3 percent over the previous year. The value added of the primary industry was 1.10 billion yuan, the secondary industry 7.63 billion yuan and the tertiary industry 4.27 billion yuan.
