Songxian County, located in Luoyang City, Henan Province, is located in the southwest of Henan Province, between the north foot of Funiu Mountain and its tributaries, Fangshan Mountain and Xiong'er Mountain. It gets its name from the origin of Songshan Mountain. With a total area of 3009 square kilometers, it is the fourth largest territory county in Henan Province, of which 95% is in deep mountains, 4.5% is in shallow mountains and hills, and 0.5% is in Pingchuan.

Songxian County has a transitional climate from the north subtropical zone to the warm temperate zone, with an average annual precipitation of 600 mm. The territory is surrounded by Funiu, Xiong'er and foreign mountains. Yihe River, Ruhe River and Baihe River respectively flow into the Yellow River, Huaihe River and Yangtze River, and one county crosses three regions.

On February 26, 2020, the People's Government of Henan Province approved Songxian County to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties, and officially lifted its hat.

On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of reconfirmed national health towns (counties) in 2019.

In 2021, Songxian County will achieve a GDP of 22.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. The general public budget revenue was 1.09 billion yuan, up 10.5% year on year.
