Suilang County is located in the central part of Heilongjiang Province, in the northeast of Suihua City at the western foot of the southern end of the Lesser Khingan Mountains. It is under the jurisdiction of Suihua City of Heilongjiang Province. Suiling Black pottery, the local specialty, is well known throughout the country and known as "the hometown of Black Pottery in China". According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Suilang County's permanent population is 211,907.

Suilang County is adjacent to Yichun City in the east, Qingan County in the southeast, Beilin District in the south and southwest, Bei 'an City and Hailun City in the west and northwest, and Bei 'an City and Xunke County in the northeast and north. With a total area of 4,238 square kilometers, the county has jurisdiction over 6 towns, 5 townships and 76 administrative villages. Suiling Town, the resident of the county government, is the political, economic and cultural center and transportation hub of the county. It is 195 kilometers away from Harbin, the provincial capital. Binbei Railway and National Highway 102 pass from the west of the county. There are 12 ethnic groups in the county, including Han, Korean, Manchu, Hui, Mongolian, Miao, Zhuang, Oroqen, Naxi, Daur, Xibe, Dong, etc. There are five resident units in the county, including the province and the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

On December 31, 2019, it was selected as a national typical county for rural innovation and entrepreneurship. On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of towns (counties) reconfirmed as National Health Care in 2019.
In 2019, Suilang County's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 508.493 million yuan, an increase of 2.1 percent over the previous year at comparable prices.
