Taihu County, subordinate to Anqing City of Anhui Province, is located in the west of Anhui Province, the southwest of Anqing City and the southern foot of Dabie Mountain. Its geographical coordinates are between 30°09' ~ 30°46' north latitude and 115°45' ~ 116°30' east longitude, with a total area of 2040 square kilometers. Taihu was founded in 420 during the reign of Emperor Wu of Song Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty. In ancient Chinese, Taihu was sometimes used in common with Tai and Da, and Taihu means "Great Lake".
