Caofeidian District (Tanghai County), under the jurisdiction of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, is located in the center of the Bohai Sea, in the south of Tangshan, adjacent to Beijing and Tianjin, in the south of the Bohai Sea, across the sea from Dalian, Yantai, North Korea and South Korea, with a total area of 2114 square kilometers, including 1408.14 square kilometers of land and 705.86 square kilometers of sea area under its jurisdiction. It has jurisdiction over 3 streets and 3 towns.

Caofeidian District is the hometown of oriental shrimp in China, the hometown of red skin jellyfish in China, and a national level demonstration county for healthy fishery breeding. Caofeidian District has the second largest state-owned farm in China. With a total area of 540 square kilometers, Caofeidian District is a natural gene pool of wild animal and plant species and an international migration site of rare migratory birds. It is a national 4A level tourist attraction, and is called by the International Wetland Organization as "a rare wetland reserve unique in the north, rare in the country, with huge development potential".

In 2021, Caofeidian District will achieve a GDP of 85.063 billion yuan, including 4.199 billion yuan of added value of the primary industry, 47.304 billion yuan of added value of the secondary industry and 33.56 billion yuan of added value of the tertiary industry. The proportion of the three industries is 4.9:55.6:39.5. The per capita GDP is 240,699 yuan.
