Wanrong County, subordinate to Yuncheng City of Shanxi Province, is located in the southwest and northwest of Yuncheng City of Shanxi Province, adjacent to Wenxi County and Salt Lake District in the east, on the west across the Yellow River and YI County of Shaanxi Province, on the south bordering on Linyi County, on the north Jishan County and Hejin City. The county covers an area of 1081.5 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 6 towns and 8 townships and a total of 207 administrative villages. As of November 2020, Wanrong County has a permanent population of 361,900.

In Wanrong, Gufeng Mountain and King Ji Mountain look far away. The Yellow River and Fenhe River converge. Hebao Highway and Hubei Highway run from east to west, while National Highway 209 and Yunji Road run from north to south. Haoji Railway transit, the territory has Wanrong station.

In 2020, the GDP of Wanrong County reached 8.234 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1 percent over 2019 based on comparable prices. Total revenue was 408 million yuan, up 3.5%.
