Weixi Lisu Autonomous County (Weixi County), belonging to Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province, in the southwest of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, between 26 ° 53 '- 28 ° 02' north latitude and 98 ° 54 '- 99 ° 34' east longitude. It is located in the heart of the world's natural heritage where the Jinsha River, Lancang River and Nujiang River flow side by side. It borders Shangri-La City in the east and Lanping Bai and Pumi Autonomous County of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the south, It is connected with Yulong Naxi Autonomous County of Lijiang City in the southeast, Gongshan Dulong Nu Autonomous County and Fugong County of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the west, and Deqin County in the northeast and north. The county belongs to the subtropical and temperate monsoon plateau mountain climate of Xizang-West China similar to Kangdian region. As of April 2021, Weixi Lisu Autonomous County has jurisdiction over 3 towns and 7 townships (Baohe Town, Tacheng Town, Yezhi Town, Yongchun Township, Pantiange Township, Weideng Township, Zhonglu Township, Baijixun Township, Kangpu Township, Badi Township), and is the only Lisu Autonomous County in China.

Since the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, it has been an integral part of the southwest of China, a frontier fortress in the northwest of Yunnan, one of the post roads leading to India, Myanmar, and Kangzang, and a gathering point of the ancient "tea horse exchange" in the northwest of Yunnan. There are 137930 people from 27 ethnic minorities, including Lisu, Naxi, Tibetan, Bai, Yi and Pumi. The administrative area of the whole county is 4476.67 square kilometers.
