Wei County, under the jurisdiction of Handan City, Hebei Province, is located at the junction of Hebei, Shandong and Henan provinces. The county is 42.24 kilometers long from north to south and 33.5 kilometers wide from east to west. Weihe River and Zhanghe River run through the middle. It is located between 36 ° 03 ′ 6 ″~36 ° 26 ′ 30 ″ north latitude and 114 ° 43 ′ 42 ″~115 ° 07 ′ 24 ″ east longitude. The terrain is gently inclined from southwest to northeast, open and flat, with an altitude of 45.5~58.5 meters. It borders Guangping County in the north, Cheng'an County and Linzhang County in the west, Daming County in the east, Neihuang County, Qingfeng County and Nanle County in Henan Province in the south. The county covers an area of 864 square kilometers. Weixian County belongs to the north temperate monsoon climate zone, with four distinct seasons. Wei County was set up in the 12th year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (195 BC), which belongs to Wei County. In May 1961, Wei County was established and restored, belonging to Handan District. It was renamed Handan City in 1993. There are five provincial roads in the county: Handa, Weifeng, Congfeng, Anliao and Daya. On September 29, 2018, the People's Government of Hebei Province issued a notice stating that 25 counties (cities and districts) including Wei County were officially approved to withdraw from the poverty county sequence.
