Wupu County is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province and southeast of Yulin City. It is close to Jia County in the north, Suide in the west, and the Yellow River in the east, facing Linxian and Liulin Counties of Shanxi Province. It is 30.4 kilometers long from north to south, 26.8 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 420.85 square kilometers and 12,700 hectares of cultivated land. Wupu County is the key point of communication between Qin and Jin dynasties. It has been a strategic place for military strategists since ancient times, and is the bridgehead of northern Shanxi to East China and North China. Wupu County is one of the five sericulture base counties in Shanxi Province, with red dates production and income ranking first in the city. Four Yellow River Bridges connect Qin and Jin provinces, National Highway 210 (Xianyang - Songjiachuan Town section) transit. There are two moraines of the Yellow River -- Wupu Datong Moraine, Wupu Stone City, Taiping Temple, Liu Qing's former residence, Henggou Hot Spring, etc. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Wupu County was 53,938 as of midnight on November 1, 2020. In 2019, the GDP of Wupu County reached 2.691 billion yuan, an increase of 4.8% over the previous year.
