Wuwei City, known as Ruoxu in ancient times, is a county-level city administered by Wuhu City. It is located in the central part of Anhui Province, on the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, bordered by Chaohu City and Hanshan County in the north, Jiujiang District of Wuhu City in the east, suburban Tongling City in the south, and Zhongyang County and Lujiang County in the west. It belongs to the north subtropical monsoon climate zone with a total area of 2022 square kilometers. As of November 2022, Wuwei Municipality has jurisdiction over 20 towns. Wuwei has a history of more than 1,400 years since it was founded in the Sui Dynasty. The name of Wuwei City is "thinking the world is content with nothing, nothing but governance".
