Wuxue City, a county-level city administered by Huanggang City, Hubei Province, China, is an important part of Wuhan City Circle and a port city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The city covers an area of 1246 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Wuxue City was 676,264.
Wuxue City, located in the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the southern foot of Dabie Mountain, the eastern edge of Hubei Province, and the hub of Wu and Chu, has always been a "thoroughfares of three provinces and seven counties" in the area adjacent to Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi. Wuxue City, formerly known as Guangji County, was called "the Country of Buddhism" in ancient times, which means "spreading Buddhism and helping all sentient beings". In 1987, with the approval of The State Council, the county was abolished and the city was established.
Wuxue is home to one of the ten great deep-water harbours on the Yangtze River, where the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, the longest railway in China, and the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, the longest high-speed in China, meet.
Wuxue City has the honorary titles of Model County and City of Chinese Garden greening, Hometown of Chinese rape, Industrial City of Hubei Province, Civilized City of Hubei Province, Hometown of Chinese martial Arts, Advanced City of Chinese Science and Technology, and "Hometown of Chinese Poetry". In March 2019, it was listed as the first batch of counties under the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.
