Xijiang County, affiliated to Ji 'an City of Jiangxi Province, is named for the narrow river and the mountains on both sides of Yu Gorge in Baqiu Town. It is located in the north of Ji 'an City and in the central hinterland of Jiangxi Province, between 27°27 '50 "north latitude to 27°45' 20" and 114°53 '21 "to 115°31' 57" east longitude. The total area of the county is 1287.43 square kilometers. Xiajiang County climate belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate. As of 2018, Xijiang County has jurisdiction over 6 towns and 5 townships, and another township unit. The county government is based in Shuibian Town. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Xijiang County was 149,954 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

After the founding of New China belongs to Jian area. On May 11, 2000, approved by The State Council, Ji 'an District was abolished and prefecture level Ji 'an was established. Xijiang County belongs to Ji 'an City. In Xijiang County, there are four major water and land transportation arteries, namely Gan-Guangdong Expressway, 105 National Highway, Beijing-Kowloon Railway and Ganjiang River waterway. In March 2019, Xijiang County was included in the list of the first counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.

On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of towns (counties) reconfirmed as National Health Care in 2019. [
In 2019, Xijiang County's gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices reached 7.463 billion yuan, a comparable increase of 7.7%. Among them, the added value of primary, secondary and tertiary industries was 1.122 billion yuan, 2.841 billion yuan and 3.05 billion yuan respectively. The primary industry contributed 5.30%, the secondary industry 86.35% and the tertiary industry 8.35%. The structure of the three industries was adjusted to 15.03:38.07:46.90 from 15.76:34.49.75 last year. The per capita current GDP is 39,352 yuan.
