Xiangcheng, located in the southeast of Henan Province, is the county level city managed by Zhoukou City. It is located in the south of the Yellow River alluvial plain and the middle reaches of Shaying River, the main tributary of Huaihe River. Located at the junction of Henan Province and Anhui Province, Daguang Expressway and Ningluo Expressway intersect in the urban area. National Highway 106 and five provincial highways cross the whole territory. Luofu Railway connects Beijing Guangzhou and Beijing Kowloon. Shaying River shipping directly connects with the Yangtze River. It is a better intersection of people flow, logistics, capital flow and information flow in southeast Henan. In 2019, the administrative area of Xiangcheng City will be 1086 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Xiangcheng was 973197.

Xiangcheng is an industrial system with MSG, leather, medicine and textile as its pillars. It is the largest production base of handmade shoes in China, the location of China's famous lotus MSG, and the nearest waterway city from the central and western regions to the Yangtze River Delta. In 2011, it won the title of "China's Best Investment City" and "China's Top Ten Cities with Development Potential". On February 2, 2019, it was rated as an advanced unit of national grass-roots TCM work at the county level by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. On January 22, 2020, it was named National Garden City by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development. On February 13, 2020, it won the title of "Safe Agricultural Machinery" Demonstration County in 2019.
