Xiangxiang City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Xiangtan City in Hunan Province. It is located in the east-central part of Hunan Province, bordering Shaoshan City and Xiangtan County on the east, Shuangfeng County on the south, Loudi City on the west and Ningxiang City on the north. The total area is 1966.21 square kilometers. Accounting for 0.95% of the total area of Hunan Province. It has jurisdiction over 4 subdistricts, 15 towns and 3 townships.
Xiang Township was called "Dragon City" in ancient times. More than 5000 ancient tombs and a large number of Chu slips have been discovered since the Warring States period.
