Xianju County, subordinate to Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, is located in the southeast of Zhejiang Province and the west of Taizhou City. It is a pilot county of China's "National Park" and the source of Taizhou's mother river (Yong'anxi Lingjiang Jiaojiang). There is a saying that "eight mountains, one river and one field". Xianju County covers an area of about 2000 square kilometers, governing 17 townships, 3 streets, 311 administrative villages and 21 communities. According to the data of the seventh census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, Xianju County has 431888 permanent residents.

Since ancient times, Xianju has been a millennium old city with a long history and culture and outstanding people. Xianju is the hometown of Xiang Si, a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty, Chen Renyu, the author of the world's first edible fungus monograph "Fungus Manual" in the Song Dynasty, Ke Jiusi, a great painter of poetry, calligraphy and painting in the Yuan Dynasty, Wu Shilai, an imperial historian of the Zuo capital who fought bravely against Yan Song in the Ming Dynasty, and others. Xianju has a profound cultural heritage. There are Xiatang cultural sites more than 7000 years ago, Tadpole characters, one of the eight wonders in China, Potan Ancient Town, a famous historical and cultural town in China, the first dragon shaped ancient street in East China, Tongjiang Academy where Zhu Xi, a great philosopher of the Song Dynasty, sent his son to school, and ancient Vietnamese characters in the Spring and Autumn Period. There are numerous cultural relics and historic sites. Xianju is also the place where idioms and allusions such as "one man gets the right way, and a dog gets the right way", "vicissitudes of life", and "flattery" occur.

Xianju County is one of the first pilot areas for high-quality development and construction of a common prosperity demonstration area in Zhejiang Province. In October 2018, it was selected as one of the top 100 counties and cities with investment potential in 2018 and one of the top 100 counties and cities with green development in China. On October 22, 2018, it was selected into the list of national pilot areas for the integration and development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries in 2018. In December 2018, it won the second batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties. Selected as one of the top 100 counties and cities with investment potential in 2019.

In 2020, Xianju County will achieve a GDP of 26.05 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% over the previous year at comparable prices.
