Xingyi is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Qiandinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, and the capital of Qiandinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Xingyi is located at the junction of Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. Nanpan River traverses the city border, and has always been the commercial distribution center and thoroughfare fortress in the intersection area of three provinces, known as "Thoroughfare of three provinces", and an important node city on the great sea passage in southwest China. The jurisdiction covers an area of 2,915 square kilometers. It is the first batch of new energy demonstration cities, the first batch of national all-region tourism demonstration areas, and the national comprehensive pilot area for new urbanization. It is the birthplace of Guizhou spirit and the key industrial development demonstration area in Guizhou Province. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Xingyi had a permanent population of 1,004,132.

The State Council approved the implementation of the Revitalization Plan of Zuoyoujiang Revolutionary Old Base Area. Xingyi belongs to the revolutionary old base Area and has been established as a central city of Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan regional cooperation, an ecollivable city, a regional transportation hub, a new energy city, a business and logistics center, a tourist and holiday destination, and a pilot zone for opening up of modern service industry.

Xingyi City has beautiful mountains and rivers, pleasant climate and profound cultural heritage. The famous Bi Shan Academy was founded during the reign of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty.
