Xinxiang County, subordinate to Xinxiang City, Henan Province, is located in the north central part of Henan Province, the southern foot of Taihang Mountain, and the upper reaches of Weihe River. It connects Yanjin to the east, Huojia to the west, Yuanyang to the south, and Xinxiang to the north. The administrative area is 393 square kilometers. As of January 2021, the permanent population of Xinxiang County is 374000.
In the Shang Dynasty, it belonged to Jinei. On May 5, the 38th year of the Republic of China (1949), Xinxiang County was liberated, and the county seat was set aside for expansion as Xinxiang City. On August 24, 1961, Xinxiang County was restored. On September 1, 1983, Xinxiang District was changed from Xinxiang District to Xinxiang City. In 2012, the State Council approved the relocation of Xinxiang County from Hongqi District of Xinxiang City to Xiaoji Town. As of October 2021, Xinxiang County has jurisdiction over 7 towns, 1 township and 1 township level unit. The county people's government is located in Xiaoji Town.
