Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County, subordinate to Anshan City, Liaoning Province, is located in the north of Liaodong Peninsula. It is adjacent to Fengcheng City and Donggang City in the east and southeast, Dashiqiao City and Gaizhou City in the west, Zhuanghe City in the south, Liaoyang County and Haicheng City in the north and northwest. The total administrative area is 4502 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh national population census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County is 413007. As of October 2021, Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County has jurisdiction over 3 streets, 18 towns and 3 townships. Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County, known as the "Jade Capital of China", is rich in Xiuyan jade. Xiuyan was established in the Liao Dynasty. In June of the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), after the recovery of Xiuyan, the People's Government was established, which was successively subordinated to Liaoning Province, Liaodong Province, Andong Special District of Liaoning Province, and Andong (Dandong) City of Liaoning Province. In 1954, it was under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province. In 1958, it was a county under the jurisdiction of Dandong City. On January 17, 1985, Xiuyan County was abolished and Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County was established.
