Yadong County, under the jurisdiction of Xigaze City of Tibet Autonomous Region, is located in the south of Tibet Autonomous Region and the southeast of Xigaze City. It is located in the middle part of the Himalayas and has a plateau mountain climate. It is adjacent to Kangma County, Bailang County and Gamba County in the north, and extends into the Republic of India and the Kingdom of Bhutan in a wedge shape to the south. As of October 2021, Yadong County has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 5 townships. According to the seventh national census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of 15,449 people.

Dongya, Tibetan ZhuoMu, meaning "spiral valley" or "torrent valley", because of the terrain, such as a cow, into Chinese which means rocks, also known as the "east". Yadong, which historically belonged to the Parizong; In the fifteenth year of Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty (1642, the eleventh Year of Shuima in the Tibetan calendar), during the period of the local government of Tibet, Rinazong was established in Yadong (present Sikkim). In August 1960, democratic reform was carried out in Tibet. The Gyantse Branch Working Committee of the Communist Party of China abolished Parizong and established Yadong County. In July 2014, Shigatse was set up as a city and Yadong County belongs to Shigatse City.

The main scenic spots in Yadong County include Kangbu hot spring, Duoqing Lake, Zhuomari Snow Mountain, and Lower Yadong primitive forest. In December 2018, Yadong County was selected as one of the sixth batch of "Demonstration Zones (units) for the Establishment of National Ethnic Unity and Progress". In October 2020, Yadong County was selected into the list of "National Model Cities (counties) with double support". In November 2021, Yadong County was selected into the 2021 "Four Good Rural Road" national model counties list.
In 2021, the GDP of Yadong County reached 1.05 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 7.3%; Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 344 million yuan, up 6% year on year; Total investment in fixed assets was 1.583 billion yuan; The per capita disposable income of farmers and herdsmen was 17,340 yuan, up 19.7 percent year on year.
