Yanchuan County

Yanchuan County, subordinate to Yan 'an City of Shanxi Province, is located in the middle reaches of the Yellow River in northern Shanxi Loess Plateau east, 80 kilometers away from Yan 'an City. It faces Yonghe County and Shillou County of Shanxi Province across the Yellow River in the east, borders Qingjian County of Yulin City in the north, adjoins Zichang City in the northwest, Baota District in the west and Yanchang County in the south. It is located in latitude 36°37 '15 "-- 37°05' 55" north, longitude 109°36 '20 "-- 110°26' 44" east. It is 74.25 kilometers long from east to west and 51.5 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total land area of 1983.87 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 1 street and 7 towns.

Yanchuan is the hometown of the national modern folk art named by the Ministry of Culture. Li He, the only literary scholar in Northern Shanxi, and Li Yuwei, a female poet in the Qing Dynasty, both came from Yanchuan. Yanchuan writers represented by Lu Yao enjoyed great fame in modern China. Folk arts such as paper-cutting, cloth painting, Yangko, storytelling and Daoqing have their own characteristics, and literary talents such as folk art masters Gao Fenglian and Feng Shanyun have emerged.
