Yizhang County, located in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, is located in the southern end of Hunan Province, the middle part of Nanling Mountains, the southern foot of Qitian Mountain, bordering Rucheng County on the east, Linwu County on the west, Suxian District of Beihu City, Chenzhou City on the north, Lechang City, Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County and Yangshan County on the south, Zixing City on the northeast and Lianzhou City on the southwest. The total area is 2117.85 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 14 towns and 5 townships. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Yizhang County was 567,970.
Yizhang, known as Yizhang in ancient times, was built in the thirteen years of Sui Daye (617 years), with a history of 1,400 years. Yizhang is the origin of the uprising led by Zhu De and Chen Yi in southern Hunan. There are 3780 people in the county following Zhu De and Chen Yi to Jinggang Mountain. After liberation, 1670 people were identified as revolutionary martyrs by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
