Yong'an City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, is managed by Sanming City. It is located in the central and western part of Fujian Province and the southern part of Sanming City. It is located between the mountains of western Fujian and central Fujian, and belongs to the subtropical marine monsoon climate. It is adjacent to seven districts and counties (cities), with a total area of 2931 square kilometers. Yong'an City is named for its implication. In the third year of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty (1452), Shaxian County was divided into 13 capitals and was named "Yong'an", which means permanent stability; Because the two rivers of Kowloon Creek and Baxi converge in the west of the city, which looks like a swallow tail. The urban section of Kowloon Creek is called Yanjiang River, so it is also called "Yancheng". After the establishment of Yong'an County to the Qing Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Yanping Prefecture; In the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), it was directly under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province; In May 1960, Yong'an County was divided into Sanming City; In July 1983, it was changed to Sanming City under provincial jurisdiction; In September 1984, Yong'an was changed from a county to a city (county level) under the jurisdiction of Sanming City. The main scenic spots in Yong'an City include Taoyuan Cave Scenic Spot, Yong'an Scale Hidden Stone Forest, Yong'an Anzhen Castle, and Yong'an Baizhang Rock Scenic Spot. On November 26, 2021, Yong'an City was selected as the "2021 National County-level Advanced Counties for Agricultural and Rural Informatization Development". On January 29, 2022, Yong'an City was selected into the "List of the Second Batch of National Forestry Industry Demonstration Parks". On December 27, 2022, Yong'an City was selected as "the second batch of national science popularization demonstration counties (cities, districts) in 2021-2025".
