Yongshun County, belonging to Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province, is located in the northwest of Hunan Province and the northeast of Xiangxi autonomous Prefecture. It borders Zhangjiajie City in the east, Longshan and Baojing Counties in the west, Sangzhi County in the north, Guzhang County in the south, and Yuanling County in Huaihua Prefecture in the southeast. It is located between 28°42 '-- 29°27' north latitude and 109°35 '-- 110°23' east longitude. It is 77 kilometers long from north to south and 76 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 3811.6 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 12 towns and 11 townships.

Yongshun County is the birthplace of Tujia and the seat of Laosi City of Tujia Dynasty in history. Furong Town has beautiful landscape and rich ethnic customs, as well as cultural landscapes such as Xizhou Bronze Column, a national key protected cultural relic recording the political and military history of the Tujia people, and the location shooting site of the movie Furong Town.

By the end of 2021, Yongshun County has a permanent population of 407,300. In 2021, the gross regional product of Yongshun County reached 9.484 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 2.29 billion yuan, that of the secondary industry was 1.731 billion yuan and that of the tertiary industry was 5.463 billion yuan. Based on the permanent population, the per capita GDP is 23,287 yuan.
