Yujiang District/city, belonging to Yingtan City of Jiangxi Province, is located in the northeastern part of Jiangxi Province and the middle and lower reaches of Xinjiang River. It borders Yuehu District and Guixi City in the east, Jinxi County in the south, Dongxiang District of Fuzhou City in the west, and Wannian County and Yugan County in the north. Yujiang District covers an area of 932.84 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 1 subdistrict, 6 towns and 5 townships. By the end of 2020, the permanent population of Yujiang District is 326,100.
Yujiang was Yuhan County in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and Anren County was formally established in the first year of Duangong of Song Dynasty (988). In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it was renamed Yujiang County because of the same name with Anren County of Hunan Province. In 1983, Yujiang County was subordinate to Yingtan City, and in July 2018, it was abolished and divided into districts. Yujiang District belongs to the subtropical humid monsoon climate, which is characterized by four distinct seasons, mild climate, abundant rain, sufficient sunshine.
