Yunyang County is located in the northeast of Chongqing, 310 kilometers away from the nine districts of the main city of Chongqing. It is an important hub of the Yangtze River Economic Corridor in the Three Gorges Reservoir Ecological Economic Zone connecting the east to the west and the south to the north.

Yunyang County is connected with Fengjie County in the east, Wanzhou District in the west, Lichuan City, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province in the south, and Kaizhou District and Wuxi County in the north, covering an area of 3649 square kilometers.
