Yushan County, subordinate to Shangrao City of Jiangxi Province, is located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, between 28°30' ~ 28°59' north latitude and 117°52' ~ 118°25' east longitude, with a total area of 1728 square kilometers. The climate of Yushan County is mild and humid all the year round, with subtropical monsoon climate characteristics, abundant rainfall, long sunshine time, short frost period. With the change of seasons, westerlies advance and retreat, the four seasons change obviously. By 2020, Yushan County has jurisdiction over 2 subdistricts, 10 towns and 6 townships, with the county government stationed in Bingxi Subdistrict. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Yushan County was 519,357.

The territory of Zhejiang - Jiangxi railway and 320 national road as well as the pear temperature highway across the east and west. Yushan County has the Guanxi Hu Ancestral Hall, Sanqingshan ancient architecture group, Yan Liben Tomb, Yushan Examination Shed, Yushan City wall, Yushan Hongyuan and other cultural attractions. In 2017, Yushan County was awarded the title of "Top Ten Counties with High Standard for Geological Disaster Prevention" and "2017 Spring Forest Fire Prevention County" by the Ministry of Land and Resources.

In 2019, Yushan County's GDP reached 21.628 billion yuan. In June 2020, the Rule of Law Commission of the CPC Central Committee selected it into the list of the first batch of national demonstration areas and projects for building a law-based government. On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of towns (counties) reconfirmed as National Health Care in 2019.
