Zaoqiang County, under the jurisdiction of Hengshui City, Hebei Province, is located in the southeast of Hebei Province, at the southern end of Hengshui City, facing Jingxian County and Gucheng County across the Qingliang River in the east, bordering Jizhou District in the west, Nangong City, Xingtai City in the south, and Taocheng District and Wuyi County in the north. In the second year of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty (155 BC), Guangchuan County was divided into Zaoqiang County, which belongs to Qinghe County. In 1996, Hengshui was abolished and a prefecture level Hengshui City was established. Zaoqiang was changed to Hengshui City. It is a national garden county, a comprehensive demonstration county for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics, and e-commerce in rural areas. On September 28, 2018, the People's Government of Hebei Province approved Zaoqiang County to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties.
