Zaoqiang County, under the jurisdiction of Hengshui City, Hebei Province, is located in the southeast of Hebei Province, at the southern end of Hengshui City, facing Jingxian County and Gucheng County across the Qingliang River in the east, bordering Jizhou District in the west, Nangong City, Xingtai City in the south, and Taocheng District and Wuyi County in the north. The total area is 905 square kilometers. As of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, Zaoqiang County has a permanent population of 365,640. As of October 2021, Zaoqiang County has jurisdiction over 9 towns and 2 townships, and the People's Government of Zaoqiang County is located at No. 3, Xinhua East Street, Zaoqiang Town.

In the second year of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty (155 BC), Guangchuan County was divided into Zaoqiang County, which belongs to Qinghe County. In 1996, Hengshui was abolished and a prefecture level Hengshui City was established. Zaoqiang was changed to Hengshui City. It is a national garden county, a comprehensive demonstration county for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics, and e-commerce in rural areas. Water saving society construction reaches the standard in counties. On September 28, 2018, the People's Government of Hebei Province approved Zaoqiang County to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties.

In 2021, the GDP of Zaoqiang County will be 12.55 billion yuan. The per capita disposable income of rural and urban residents was 16345 yuan and 36414 yuan respectively. The general public budget revenue exceeded 1 billion yuan, and the retail sales of consumer goods in the county reached 4.74 billion yuan.
