Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County, an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Tianshui City, Gansu Province, is located in the southeast of Gansu Province and the northeast of Tianshui City. It is located in the southern extension of Liupan Mountain and the west foot of Longshan Mountain, belonging to the temperate continental monsoon climate, adjacent to five counties (cities), with a total area of 1311.8 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County has jurisdiction over 10 towns and 5 townships. By the end of 2021, the permanent population of Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County was 244000.

According to the Notes to the Book of Water, the Houchuan Valley where Zhangjiachuan Town is located was called Changjiachuan in ancient times. During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, the territory was Xirong; In the Western Han Dynasty, it followed the Qin system; During the Three Kingdoms Period, it belonged to Guangwei County; On July 6, 1953, Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous Region was established, belonging to Tianshui District; In June 1955, it was changed into Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County; From October 1969 to 2022, it was successively under the jurisdiction of Tianshui District, Tianshui District and Tianshui City.

The main scenic spots in Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County include Yunfeng Mountain Scenic Spot, Gongbei Xuanhuagang, Xiliangzi Forest Park of Jieting Ruins, and Wolong Mountain Old Temple. On September 25, 2018, Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County was selected as the "2018 list of comprehensive demonstration counties for e-commerce in rural areas". On December 9, 2019, Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County was selected as the "seventh batch of national demonstration areas (units) for national unity and progress". On April 21, 2022, Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County was selected into the "list of counties (cities, districts, and banners) recognized through the national supervision and evaluation of balanced development of compulsory education in 2021".
