Zhaosu County is subordinate to Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Located in the southwest of Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, between 43 ° 09 ′ - 43 ° 15 ′ N and 80 ° 08 ′ - 81 ° 30 ′ E, it is a high mountain basin surrounded by mountains in the inland hinterland of Central Asia.
