Zhongmou County is a county under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. It is a part of the new city in the east of Zhengzhou. It was formerly called Putian and Mouzhou. It is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains and on the bank of the Yellow River. It is adjacent to the central urban area of Zhengzhou in the west and Kaifeng, the ancient capital of eight dynasties in the east. As the core area and strategic fulcrum of the integration of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, Zhongmou County is located in the overlapping development area of "three areas" of Central Plains urban agglomeration, Zhengzhou metropolitan area and Zhengzhou Airport Area (Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Area). As of 2017, Zhongmou County has a total area of 917 square kilometers, governing 14 towns and streets. Zhongmou has a history of more than 2200 years since it was established as a county in the Western Han Dynasty. It is the hometown of such historical celebrities as Liezi, a famous Taoist teacher in the Warring States Period, Pan An, a famous writer in the Western Jin Dynasty, and Shi Kefa, a national hero in the late Ming Dynasty. By the end of 2021, there are 708,000 permanent residents in the district.

Zhongmou integrates the transportation advantages of "railway, public transport and airport". It is connected to the Beijing Kowloon Railway in the east and the Beijing Guangzhou Railway in the west. Longhai Railway and Zhengzhou Kaifeng Intercity Railway have their own stations in China, 20 kilometers from Zhengzhou East Railway Station in the west and 25 kilometers from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and Zhengzhou Airport Station in the south. The density of roads in the county is 283 kilometers per 100 square kilometers. The county seat is 11 kilometers away from the down crossing of Lianhuo Expressway in the north, 12 kilometers away from the down crossing of Beijing Hong Kong Macao Expressway in the west, 5 kilometers away from the county seat respectively for the two down crossings of Zhengmin Expressway, and 6 kilometers away from the county seat respectively for the two down crossings of Jixi Expressway.

In 2021, Zhongmou County will achieve a GDP of 44.82 billion yuan.

In December 2019, it was listed as one of the top ten counties (cities) with investment potential in 2019 and one of the top 100 counties (cities) with comprehensive competitiveness in 2019. On January 22, 2020, it was selected as the "2019 National Garden County".
