FuYang, referred to as Fu for short and called Ruyin, Shunchang and Yingzhou in ancient times, is a prefecture level city in Anhui Province. It spans the east longitude of 114°52 '-- 116°49' and the north latitude of 32°25 '-- 34°04'. It is located in the Yangtze River Delta, the northwest of Anhui and the south end of the North China Plain, connected with Zhoukou, Zhumadian and Xinyang of Henan Province in the northwest, west and southwest respectively, and Bozhou in the north and northeast. The southeast and Huainan City as neighbors, south of the Huai River and Lu 'an across the river. By 2020, it has jurisdiction over 3 municipal districts, 4 counties and 1 county-level city. The total area of the city is 10,118.17 square kilometers. By the end of 2021, the city's permanent population was 8.171,000.

Fuyang paper-cut, Yingshang Hua-Gu-deng, Jieshou painted pottery and Funan willow weaving have been included in the national intangible Cultural Heritage list. The Shang Dynasty bronze wares unearthed in Funan County, Dragon and Tiger Zun, have been listed as one of China's top ten national treasures.

In 2021, Fuyang City achieved a regional GDP of 307.15 billion yuan, calculated at comparable prices, an increase of 9.0% over the previous year.
